SWAPUK is an online marketplace service for listing, discovering and exchanging or selling goods between users. This notice explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you use SWAPUK.

2. Information we collect

• Account information such as email address, user ID and display name.
• Listing information such as item descriptions, photos, category and location supplied by you.
• Messages and swap-offer information exchanged through the platform.
• Information needed for payments, seller verification and fraud prevention when payment services are used.
• Technical and security information needed to operate and protect the service.

We aim to collect only information that is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

3. How we use information

• To create and operate accounts.
• To publish and manage listings and swap offers.
• To provide messaging and marketplace functionality.
• To prevent fraud, abuse, illegal activity and security incidents.

4. Legal bases

Depending on the activity, we may rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations or consent where appropriate. We will not rely on consent where another lawful basis is more appropriate.

5. Who we share information with

We may share information with service providers that help us operate SWAPUK, including hosting, database, authentication, storage and payment providers. Currently the service uses Supabase for core account/database/storage functionality, Vercel for website hosting, Stripe for payment processing and seller/payment verification, and Resend for transactional email delivery. Relevant payment and verification information is processed by Stripe when you use Stripe-powered payment features. Transactional account/order emails may be delivered through Resend. We may also disclose information where required by law, regulators, courts, law enforcement or fraud-prevention services.

6. Public information

Information you choose to put in a public listing, including listing photos, title, description, category and approximate location, may be visible to other visitors. Do not publish your home address, phone number, payment details, passwords or other sensitive personal information in a public listing.

7. Messages and safety

Messages and offers are private between participating users but may be accessed where reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, dispute handling or legal compliance.

8. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including account operation, legal obligations, fraud prevention, dispute handling and record keeping. Retention periods may vary by data type.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing of your personal information, and to data portability where applicable. You may contact us at gangac1986@gmail.com.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we use your information, please contact us first so we can investigate. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

11. Cookies and similar technologies

SWAPUK may use essential browser storage or similar technologies required for login, security and core functionality. If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking technologies, we will provide appropriate information and obtain consent where required by law.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their passwords and avoid publishing confidential information.

13. Changes

We may update this notice when our service or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page with its update date.
